What will the renewables industry look like in the future?

Dr John Feddersen, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at Aurora and Oliver Kerr, Senior Commercial Manager at Aurora

John and Oliver will look at how the renewables industry will change over the coming years, focusing on where the biggest opportunities will lie for investors. 

Aurora provides data-driven analytics on global energy markets and the transformation that is occuring within them. John co-founded Aurora in 2013, before which he worked at the Boston Consulting Group, advising major government and private sector clients. He started his career at Deutsche Bank and holds MPhil and DPhil degrees from the University of Oxford. John’s commentary and analysis of the renewable energy sector regularly appears in major international press, and he is published in leading peer-reviewed academic journals. 

Oliver has a decade of energy and climate change experience in industry and academic settings. Before joining Aurora, he worked on urban energy systems and climate policy for the World Bank, Washington. Oliver holds an MSc from UCL, an MA from Harvard, and a first-class degree from the University of Oxford.

The future of renewable power prices

Ben and Anthony will discuss renewable power prices and the trends we can expect them to follow in the future, as energy generation continues to shift away from coal and gas. 

Ben joined EY as a graduate in 1997, starting in the renewable energy team, where his passion lies. He has advised on a large number of high-profile and pioneering transactions in the power and utilities sector, with a particular focus on renewable energy. Ben is the Chief Editor of EY’s Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI), one of the renewable energy industry’s most respected independent publications. 

Anthony leads the EY Power & Utilities Economic Advisory team. He is a specialist in economic regulation, government policy, market design and market/regulatory due diligence for the electricity, gas and water sectors. Anthony advises utilities, investors, governments and regulators around the world on the subjects of energy generation, transmission, distribution and supply/retail. He has degrees in economics, finance and law.

How to build an efficient portfolio of renewable assets

Drew will look at what goes into building a portfolio of renewable assets in a post-subsidy world, focusing on how to combine several different renewable technologies to maximise your portfolio’s efficiency.

Drew heads up the Energy Markets Team at Octopus Renewables. The team is responsible for managing the sale of energy generated by assets in the portfolio and analysing power forecasts to inform investment strategy.

Drew joined Octopus in 2012 after graduating from the University of Cambridge with an MEng in Chemical Engineering.
